Chitrakonda is a tribal land situated at Malkanagiri, Odisha. It is popular for Balimela dam completed during 1972 with the length of its reservoir about 65kms. Chitrakonda is around 70 Kms away from district headquarter i.e. Malkangiri. At the base of the wall of Chitrakonda dam, Chitrakonda Eco-Park was formed near Temporary Colony, Chitrakonda by the side of Balimela-Chitrakonda State High way (now NH) in the downstream of Balimela Reservoir. and sanctioned the project under IAP (SCA). The eco-park is now a very popular one-day destination among the people. Eco-park is visited by visitors from Malkangiri and Andhra Pradesh.
